In collaboration with Osifo Ahuemonkhan, Dmitri Iarikov, Sicong Hou, Dr. Ranjan Pati and Professor Sheryl Ehrman.

Flame Synthesis of Nanoscale Cu/CeO2 for Fuel Cell Applications

Overview of Results

  • High surface area particles are prepared in flame spray pyrolysis method.
  • Particles prepared are in the nanoscale range (from TEM & BET).
  • Ceria surface is enriched with Cu2+ ion (from XPS)
  • Etching results show that the Cu2+ may be present in the CeO2 lattice.
  • Small amount of carbon present in the materials (TGA & FTIR).
