Shell Global Solutions is currently seeking a Monitoring Technology Development Engineer for its Houston, Texas location.
Responsibilities:
In this position, you will carry out work tasks related to the development of integrated, automated monitoring and diagnosis technologies for chemical, refinery, and upstream (E&P) manufacturing processes.
Key accountabilities include:
- Working on research development, product development, field-testing, applications support, work process development, training, and 3rd party/academic gate keeping
- Scoping the monitoring technology development activities including instrumentation, process control, equipment, and process unit performance. Some specific examples include development of monitoring strategies related to reactor operation, distilling unit performance, heat transfer equipment, energy management, rotating equipment, equipment corrosion, and analyzer/transmitter performance
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary technical groups and exhibiting strong teamwork and communication skills
Requirements:
To be considered for this position, you must possess a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, along with approximately 5 or more years related work experience.
You must possess research work related advanced monitoring/diagnosis experience.
You must possess background in statistical data analyses, monitoring, and modeling concepts such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Multivariate Statistical Analysis, Time Series Analysis, and data mining. You must possess experience with data historians (PI, PHD, etc.) and/or DCS systems.
Additional skills required:
- Strong self-initiative and technical leadership skills
- Exposure to Advanced Process Control (APC)
- Simulation modeling skills
- Computer programming/development/tools/component skills related to Fortran, C++, VB, MATLAB, HTML, XML, SQL, etc.
