    Genzyme is seeking a process engineer to support and participate in
    data-driven process monitoring, improvement, and troubleshooting efforts for
    therapeutic protein manufacturing operations in Massachusetts.

    Responsibilities:
    -Develop, maintain, and manage process databases, data analysis algorithms,
    and web servers.
    -Use process modeling, multivariate statistics, and SPC methods for
    troubleshooting and data-driven process improvement in a large scale cGMP
    biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
    -Initiate, lead, and implement investigations and process improvements to
    increase process robustness, yield, quality, and capacity.

    Skill set:
    -BS, MS, or Ph.D. Chemical or Biochemical Engineering with background in
    statistics and advanced process data analysis (0-5 years experience).
    -Strong writing and communication skills and ability to work effectively
    independently and in a team.
    -Experience/training in biologics manufacturing, mammalian cell culture or
    protein purification a plus.
    -Knowledge of JMP, Matlab, HTML, SQL, VB/ASP, Access, Windows 2000

    Background
    The mission of the Therapeutics Manufacturing Technical Support (MTS)
    department is to support Genzyme's commercial therapeutic manufacturing
    operations by working to:

    -Monitor, understand, and improve manufacturing process performance and
    repeatability
    -Identify and introduce capacity, cost, and reliability improvements
    -Transfer new processes to manufacturing and to larger scales
    -Improve and ensure product and personnel safety

    To achieve these goals the group employs a wide range of engineering,
    biological, and mathematical disciplines. A mix of hands-on work on the
    manufacturing floor, experimentation, and modeling/data-mining provides
