Postdoctoral Research Position for Math Model Builder in Chemical Engineering Department at Purdue University
Under the direction of Gary Blau, and working with the Catalyst Design Group, the candidate would be responsible for the development, implementation and use of a new software product that would combine novel and existing mathematical and statistical tools into an industrial strength vehicle for building statistically sound mathematical models characterizing chemical reaction systems. The software would afford the user the ability to design and analysis high-throughput experiments, to discriminate rival models, to help suggest alternative models, to select the most suitable model, and to minimize the uncertainty in the kinetic and statistical model parameters by the design of new experiments when appropriate. The candidate should be foremost a problem solver and have some of the following characteristics. He/she should operate comfortably in a high level computer language, be familiar with numerical analysis concepts, have a working knowledge of statistics and understand the !
physics and chemistry involved in reaction engineering. The candidate should have a skill set which accommodates team work and the communication skills to express his/her ideas clearly to a non-technical audience.
The position will be available on May 1st and will be renewable annually.
