National Capital Section of American Institute of Chemical Engineers
Subject: Recent Developments in Nanotechnology
Abstract: The presentation will describe the National Nanotechnology
Initiative (NNI) current status and its likely evolution
in the socio-economic and international context. Research
results after the first four years of investment are
outlined.
Four generations of nanotechnology R&D projects and
their corresponding manufacturing methods are compared:
passive nanostructures, active nanostructures, three-
dimensional nanosystems with heterogeneous components,
and heterogeneous molecular nanosystems.
