Hello all;
I am sending you this message to request a coordinator and couple of
volunteers for Techstravaganza at Thomas Jefferson High School,
Alexandria, Va, on May 22, 2004, from 1-4 PM. It sounds very
similar to the Family Day "Slime" event.
Please contact me if you can volunteer: Bruce Cranford,
Bruce-Cranford-PE@attglobal.net, 301-340-0052.
I have a previous commitment and am unable to participate. The
following is a short description of the event.
Tomorrow's Women in Science and Technology (TWIST) is a group at
Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in
Alexandria, Virginia. TWIST is in charge of organizing the
Techstravaganza, a free science, technology, math, and
engineering-focused carnival intended for 6th-8th grade girls and
their parents. The carnival will include booths representing
different clubs at TJ, hands-on science experiments, and speakers
for both the girls and their parents about women in science, math,
and technology careers. Our goal is to increase interest in various
science, math, and technology fields. We include demonstrations and
many hands-on activities for the girls who attend this activity. The
event is held here at, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and
Technology, located at 6560 Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA. on May
22, 2004, from 1-4 PM.
TWIST will also accept any items (such as pencils, bags, yo-yo's, or
other materials with AIChE logo or a Company Logo) that we could
give to girls as prizes.
