AIChE National Capital Section Ballot for 2003-2004 Executive Committee
This year's NCS EC election will take place entirely by email. Please

by Tuesday, May 20th, 2003. Please include your name and AIChE

Erica Hansen for Vice Chair
Erica Hansen has been involved with AIChE since she was a sophomore in college, being the vice president her junior and senior year. When she moved to Oregon in '96, she became the vice president of the local AIChE section and held that position for 3 years. She is again aspiring to that vice president's position here at the local DC section. Her goal for each group she is involved with is to make sure the meetings are interesting, fun and engage as much of the membership as possible. Erica is currently working for Anteon Corp supporting the DoD (Navy in particular) in the development of Models and Simulations that are used to develop wireless data communication systems. Her previous professional experience includes process engineering in integrated circuits, manufacturing engineering in medical devices and development engineer for a pharmaceutical engineer. She graduated from the university of Rochester in '91 with a BS ChE. Erica is also involved in the SISO (Standards and Interoperability Standard Organization), Society of Women Engineers, and Washington Irish Men's Rugby Team.
Evan Hyde for Vice Chair:
Evan Hyde works for ExxonMobil. He has been working for two years in process design, R&D, and technical support for lubricant basestock processing facilities at refineries around the world. He has been a member of the NCS Executive committee, chair of membership for 1.5 yrs. Evan's prime focus as the vice president and programming chair will be inciting new programs aimed at increasing membership and activity of younger chemical engineers as well as linking the expertise and networking potential of more experienced chemical engineers. Evan received his BS ChE from Penn State
Raymond A. Adomaitis for Secretary:
Ray Adomaitis is an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at the
University of Maryland. He holds a joint appointment with the Institute
for Systems Research and is the Associate Chair for Graduate Studies in
the Chemical Engineering Department. His research interests focus on
developing simulation methods for semiconductor manufacturing processes.
Currently, he holds the position of Secretary in the NCS of AIChE; he
created and still helps maintain the NCS website and has served as the
section Newsletter editor.
Mathew Davey for Treasurer:
Mathew graduated in 1991 from Pennsylvania State University with a BS in
Chemical Engineering. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the
Commonwealth of Virginia and the State of New Jersey. The majority of his
career has been with KEMRON Environmental Services, Inc. During that time
he has work on remediation of a former rail yard in Baltimore, investigation
of several DOD base realignment and closure sites, conducted several audits
of process safety management programs for chemical manufacturing plants, and
prepared risk management plans for chemical manufacturing plants. Currently
he is the manager of KEMRON's Vienna VA office.
John Bobalek for Director:
John F. Bobalek is a program manager in new currency counterfeit deterrent features' development for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Treasury Department, Washington, DC. Bobalek received a B.S. from the University of Maine at Orono and an M.S. and Ph.D. from the Institute of Paper Chemistry at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI. After serving as technical director for technology transfer and a paper mill start-up in Apizaco, Mexico, he taught at La Universidad de las Americas in Puebla and then at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. Bobalek has served as Treasurer, Vice Chair, Chair and Director for the NCS and was a charter member of the Societal Impact Operating Council (
