High Priority Radioactive Sources

Topic: Dr. Paperiello will discuss issues associated with radiological dispersion devices (RDDs) or dirty bombs and the prioritization that is needed in effectively dealing with the issues associated with regulating radioactive sources.
Speaker: Dr. Paperiello is currently the Deputy Executive Director for Materials, Research and State Programs of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). He is responsible for the implementation of the nuclear materials regulation and materials related activities of the NRC Offices of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards, State Programs as well as the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research. Dr. Paperiello was also a co-author of the recent DOE/NRC Interagency Working Group on Radiological Dispersal Devices Study for the Secretary of Energy and the Commission.
